A Tale of Two Worlds

From the ancient soils of the Côte de Nuits to the vibrant, fog-kissed Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Chardonnay bridging two beloved worlds.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay told in two eloquent accents.

DEUX MONDES

Burgundian Soul ~ California Heart

The story of Deux Mondes began not in a vineyard, but over a shared glass of wine. We were seeking to craft a Pinot Noir that spoke with both elegance and power—a wine that captured the spirit of the Sonoma Coast but was rooted in Old World tradition.

It was during our search that we met our Consulting Winemaker. He had left the sun-drenched, rolling hills of Burgundy to explore the wild, fog-shrouded coastline of Sonoma. He was an "outsider" with a deep understanding of Pinot Noir's soul, having learned his craft from the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet.

As we talked, we quickly discovered a shared vision: to create wine that honored the legacy of his home, while embracing the vibrant, untamed spirit of California's Pacific-influenced vineyards. He saw the potential in the maritime fog and cool breezes of the Sonoma Coast, recognizing a climate that, while different, held a beautiful echo of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune.

Our partnership was born from this conversation, and he became our consulting winemaker. Deux Mondes is the result of our shared dream—a bridge between two worlds. It is an expression of old-world wisdom meeting new-world energy, a true Pinot Noir of grace, depth, and a story as rich as its flavor.

Deux Mondes - Two Worlds - One Wine

The soul of a Pinot Noir is the voice of its place. This is a truth known in the hallowed vineyards of the Côte de Beaune and understood in the wild, rugged hills of the Sonoma Coast. In Burgundy, the terroir is a living history—ancient limestone and marl, painstakingly cultivated for generations. The land here imparts a refined elegance, a mineral-driven complexity that is the very essence of Old World grace. The Pinot Noir that grows here speaks of subtle earth, red fruits, and a structure built over centuries.

Across an ocean, the Sonoma Coast tells a different story. The terroir is a restless symphony of fractured marine sedimentary soils and cool, volcanic rock. The air here is a constant presence, a bracing cocktail of sea salt and fog that rolls in from the Pacific. It's a place of raw, untamed energy, where the grapes ripen with a vibrant, forward fruit character.

Yet, a deep kinship binds these two disparate terroirs. Both are shaped by a constant, cooling influence—the gentle breath of the Atlantic in France, the powerful, living fog of the Pacific in California. This maritime presence is the shared language of these two exceptional places, the key to unlocking the true, nuanced potential of the Pinot Noir grape.

This is the story of Deux Mondes—a wine that is the result not of a single person's hand, but of the collaboration between these two extraordinary lands. It is a tribute to the legacy of Old World values, where the winemaker's role is to simply listen to the earth and guide its expression. The wine is a testament to the idea that the greatest wines are not made, but grown. The finished wine holds the bright cherry and earthy notes of Burgundy, but with a hint of the Sonoma Coast's untamed spirit. It is the unadulterated voice of two worlds, speaking as one.

2025 Russian River Valley Chardonnay

Russian River Valley AVA The 2025 vintage in the Russian River Valley AVA produced an exceptional Chardonnay harvest, shaped by the region’s signature cool coastal fog, crisp morning temperatures, and extended afternoon sunlight. A long and remarkably even growing season allowed the fruit to ripen slowly and gracefully, developing extraordinary aromatic complexity and concentrated flavor while preserving the vibrant acidity that defines world-class cool-climate Chardonnay.

Moderate daytime temperatures and steady maritime influence created ideal conditions for balanced maturation, resulting in fruit with exceptional purity, richness, and natural elegance. These ideal conditions gave rise to a Chardonnay that beautifully captures the sophistication and layered character for which the Russian River Valley is internationally renowned. The 2025 Dancing Wind Chardonnay displays a luminous pale gold hue with intensely aromatic layers of Meyer lemon, ripe pear, white peach, golden apple, and citrus blossom, accented by subtle notes of vanilla cream, toasted brioche, wet stone, and delicate baking spice from refined French oak aging. On the palate, the wine is rich yet impeccably balanced, offering a silky texture supported by bright natural acidity and remarkable freshness. Layers of orchard fruit, lemon curd, and mineral tension unfold seamlessly into a long, elegant finish that is both vibrant and beautifully polished.

The 2025 vintage stands as a defining Chardonnay release for DEUX MONDES — a wine that fully expresses the luxurious texture, energy, and cool-climate precision of the Russian River Valley. Its harmony of ripe fruit, restrained oak influence, refreshing acidity, and refined structure places it among the most compelling Sonoma County Chardonnays of the vintage. The wine’s purity, complexity, and impeccable balance deliver immediate appeal while also providing the foundation for graceful evolution over the next several years.
